Polychromed aluminum with magnets. Hand powered kinetic sculpture obeys the laws of Newtonian physics as well as those of Frederick Gauss, pioneer in the “field” of electromagnetism. Located in the lobby of the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, Tallahassee Florida. Commissioned by the Florida Percent for Art in State Buildings program, 1993.

When activated, the silent 1 HP motor sets the counterbalanced elements into play creating innumerable compositions and oscillations. Light reflects off of the machined surface of the aluminum and through the translucent marine paint.
